Back online. Still here. Woo-hoo!

Been gone for the better part of a year, but I’m back. Spent only three days at Maple Lake in May 2015 and it was opening so–work, no play! Moved to the foothills of Phoenix. Happy. Hope to figure out a system of staying with our mutt at the cottage during the three months here in Arizona each summer when you “don’t go outside.”

Best to all in 2016!

Please enjoy and laugh at some snaps from the latter part of 2015.

Love the hashtag “#nofilter,” as it could be a (partial) description of me. Hee.

Went to the Pacific Ocean for my birthday this year. Just a long weekend, but there will be more to come.

It’s a pain because way too much to clean!

(Thank goodness for one-year leases!)

Went to get my flu shot–which was a snap. Came out of the store and walked around the corner to my car and was nearly blinded by the vivid shades of orange, gold, pink and purple contrasted against the ever-more-intense blue hues of the cloudy sky at sunset. It was awe-inspiring. The pharmacy where I got my flu shot happens to be at the top of what is called a “hill” in these parts. We live down the street–and I do mean down so I almost never get a chance at a shot like this. I should get out more at rush hour, right?

Actually, I will as of this week, when certain upside-down-turn-your-world-around life changes go into effect. This is my last winter in Chicago–with any luck whatsoever, my last cold winter ever. Have only waited 30 years to exit stage left. Not quite there yet, but getting closer.

What has this got to do with Maple Lake?

Everything.

Find the beauty in every single day. Sometimes you have to look a bit harder, other times, it is right there waiting for you to see.

There were hundreds of these small, jagged stones in the water--and we've, that I recall, never had a rocky shoreline. Had to have happened with the constant freezing and thawing, then re-freezing that was a defining trait of winter 2013-14.

Something to ponder, something I believe: What you put out comes back to you. Also, take a photo of everything that catches your eye.

Snaps that I’ve taken in the last 24 hours. Weather has been cool, overcast at times and bright at others. It probably struggled to get above 70 F degrees today here at Maple Lake, which ticks some people off. I don’t see the point of getting mad at the weather. I have seen a lot worse up here in cottage country. It’s is totally doable to get out of the cottage. The ground is still a bit soggy and the lake is too cool to swim in, with the low-for-season air temps but hey, ya deal.

Sunset Maple Lake Ontario – July 30, 2014

Last night, by 8 pm the battery for the rowboat was finally at 100%. With only about 40 or so minutes left of light we took a spin on the west side of the lake. It was chilly and though I was hoping for some pretty sunset snaps, Mother Nature wasn’t in the mood. Still nice.
