Happy VICTORIA DAY WEEKEND –and beyond!

It’s official. Summer is here. The calendar even says so.

There is a whole lot going on in the Haliburton Highlands including activities in the farther away reaches of the Highlands that I’ve yet to but plan to explore.

I’m so exited that we’ll be at the cottage for part of this time period. I’m really okay with the slightly higher temperatures as it would be nice if the lake warmed up sooner than later.

Hey all and a happy Friday to you! Though it appeared to be not so great-looking weather this afternoon in parts of Onatrio, this weekend has some really pleasant weather to enjoy in the Haliburton Highlands. Check it out:

I’ve not yet checked out the music scene at the Dominion Hotel in Minden but it’s on my list of summer fun time activities. I’m very carefully planning to be sure and partake of the many fun things that somehow I’ve missed out on thus far whilst staying on Maple Lake as I’ll be there both this spring and summer. If you are in the Minden area this weekend, check this duo out!

Of the many cool things that are happening this week in Haliburton Highlands, there is something that is happening the world over– Earth Hour on March 31 from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. Eastern. Earth Hour is a global event with a billion people participating in an effort to reduce carbon emissions and support solutions on climate change. During this hour the citizens of our beleaguered planet Earth are asked to switch off all electric equipment including lights. We are so there!

Friday is really the last day for us here at Maple Lake to kick back and have fun before we must start packing and closing up the cottage for the winter so why not have a last blast before we go?

The weather should be awesome during the day–so sun and fun it shall be–maybe grab a few photos and take a swim, perhaps a canoe ride. Then chill a bit and head out in the evening to check out this band! Hope to see you there!
