EDIT/:6.19.10 After a thorough examination other the weather forecasts in your area for the next 36 hours, I agree that Friday overnight the Haliburton Highlands will be mainly clear and about 17°C.

By Saturday morning thundershowers turn to full- blown thunderstorms which will last in parts of Ontario until Saturday evening when the skies are to clear. It will be mainly sunny with a comfortable temperature of 21°C on Saturday evening. Sounds nice.

It will be continue to be mainly sunny at daybreak on Sunday after a Saturday overnight low of 15°C. More below.

Upon revisiting the weather forecast as it is predicted now I wanted to point out Monday April 6th and Tuesday April 7th as days for which you should pay particularly close attention. As you can see:

Both days call for either a rain-snow mix or simply rain but more importantly within the 48-hour period there is predicted to be over 20 inches of rain and up to 4 inches of snow. Not trying to be glib but apparently Ontario now has a monsoon season.

Seriously, this may call for some preparation if you are in an area where a sudden huge amount of rain would impact your life in a very negative way–which would be in many places given how many bodies of water there are in South Central Ontario. Hopefully this forecast is way off but it has held steady as predicted for 5 days now so it seems to be a real possibility.

Visitors will again be able to stroll through the Museum of Science and Industry’s environmentally friendly home exhibit after a brief closure and renovation.

Museum officials say the Smart Home exhibit that closed Jan. 4 reopens Thursday. The home is on museum grounds and originally opened in May 2008. Since then, more than 100,000 people toured the exhibit, which runs through Jan. 3.

The goal of the Chicago exhibit is to show visitors that saving energy and conserving resources are within reach of everyone. The redesign updates the 2,500-square-foot home with the latest in green technology, including an eco-friendly baby nursery and a garage workshop.

Just in time for spring break!

But I wanted to go to the Art Institute and it’s my chance to pick. Dilemma.

This uber green home looks very interesting and educational and practical but I’m in the mood for aesthetics.

Houston we have a problem. This: Becoming Edvard Munch.

It has pieces such as this one on loan:

Oi. I have to see this exhibition. Why live near a city that has wonderful exhibitions come through and not go see them? Exactly.

Getting a post-high school education is something that people of all ages and stages in their life, as well as from a spectrum of economic backgrounds consider.

Added to the roster of many financial considerations which have popped up in the last year or two is the cost of transportation. Especially if you were considering commuting to school, the cost to get you to school and back must be factored in as a major expenditure. And so it’s unsurprising that pursuing Online Degrees is an option that five times more people chose over getting a degree in the traditional fashion.

A hail storm with high winds hit Maple Lake Thursday afternoon leaving many folks without power throughout the evening. As I write this, the power has still not been restored with the hydro repair personnel reporting that they cannot find the source of the outage.
They explained as night fell that they would cease repair attempts at sundown and resume again Friday morning.
The storms came on suddenly with high, gusty winds and hail, blowing deck furniture around and tearing branches from trees.
After the storm passed there was a thin white sheet of ice on the ground with the air temperature having dropped significantly.
See the video I’ve included for a taste of this early August weather event.
