Despite the non-PC-ness of making a huge fuss over the Christian holiday, it’s still important to know what is happening in the Haliburton Highlands this weekend and beyond and what the weather will be like. scroll down and click the thumb nails for full size to find out What’s Happening in the Haliburton Highlands This Week!
Sunday, April 8 will reach a high temperature of about 55° F with a chance of showers later in the day, so bring an umbrella with your baskets and bonnets.
We rarely go anywhere on Easter Sunday but several things have changed the family dynamic landscape of late including the death of my father-in-law, our recent purchase of a car that could safely shuttle our entire family, including the dogs, all the way to grandma’s house (1 hour away) and not incidentally, the fact that grandma has a fenced-in yard and the dogs are invited! (I work from home so the two, who are Schipperke and Schip mix are not used to long periods alone–plus ‘she’ is really old and frail). So off to Wonder Lake, Illinois we’ll be on Sunday. No Reese’s PNB eggs for me this year. We are bringing a massively decadent devil’s food and fondant half ‘egg’ cake and braided (coloured) bread (both from the best bakery in the area) to dinner as well as a veggie tray. I’m hoping to cozy up to the veggie tray before doing too much damage otherwise.

Let’s start with activities that are scheduled for March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day).
Though some folks enjoy green beer on St. Paddy’s Day I’ve always been partial to a good hearty, Irish meal. 24-Hour Weather Forecast - Haliburton Highlands - November 28, 2010
I read on Twitter yesterday that Haliburton got a foot of snow overnight on Friday. No snow was in the forecast for Saturday night but by Sunday, November 28, look for about another half-inch of the white stuff.
Temperatures on Sunday look to heat up a bit more than the snow-lovers like. Sunday’s high temperature should be about 37°F with scattered flurries. The low overnight on Sunday should be 24°F.
Monday through Friday’s Long Term Weather Forecast follows: (Click it a couple times for full-size)
Haliburton Highlands Long Term Weather 11.29 - 12.4.10
Welcome to your weekend! I hope South Central Ontario is enjoying the lovely weather gracing the second to last official weekend of summer! Yes folks, it all comes to a screeching halt next Labour Day weekend! I kid, though not about next weekend being Labour Day weekend.
For many folks September can be one of the most beautiful times of the year in cottage country. The heat diminishes yet often is just perfect during the day for almost any outdoor activity. Nighttime can be very cool and it’s fun to snuggle up under some cozy quilts. It’s been many years since I have spent as late of a time at the cottage as I am this year. Many cottages will have closed up for the season.
We decided for a couple of reasons including my spouse’s weekend job that we’d go during the (work) week following Labour Day. My folks used to stay very late in the season, until October one year if I recall, and I often heard about the great weather at Maple Lake in the very late summer. I’m really looking forward to it and with any luck it will be blessedly quiet on the Lake.
Enough of that, lets talk about NOW.
Sat night and Sunday August 28.29.2010

Wednesday, September 1st, expect variable cloudiness, a high of 81°F and an overnight low of 68°F. There may be a trace amount of rain.
Thursday the 2nd, brings thundershowers, a high of 73°F and a low of 59°F. There may be up to 0.4 inches of precipitation.
Friday, the beginning of the end (j/k!), expect isolated showers, a high of only 66°F and an overnight low temp of 55°F. There could be a trace of precipitation.
Saturday will be mainly sunny with a high of 63°F and an overnight low of 52°F. Right now there is no rain in the Saturday, September 4th forecast.
On Saturday, December 5 through Sunday, December 6, The Art Hive and the Maple Lake Artisans Collective will host the Annual Holiday “Bee-Zar.” I have heard that this event is quite a lot of fun.
