Autumn Leaves Forecast Central Ontario

According to the Leaves Forecast “80%” of the leaves are now “on the ground.” Some of the photos I’ve posted bear this out, others it seems not quite so many have fallen. Regardless there are signs showing up like ice forming on Head Lake in Haliburton. To my eye and I’ve seen it up close and personal many times, Head Lake looks like a river. It’s that narrow. So, the appearance of ice is not unexpected. I’m sure the personal snow vehicle-riders are starting to get excited about the upcoming months where the frozen Head Lake is used for recreation. Haliburton is a very welcoming town and a great place to engage in a variety of fun times outdoors.

If you still have your wits about you be sure to come by the bonfire for spooky storytelling with Mike Jaycock and Haliburton Highland actors who will guarantee that you will have a ‘howling good time ’round the bonfire’!

Open Stage performance hosted by Haliburton County Folk Society

Here’s another neat event that is nearly free and for all ages that I found in “What’s Happening This Week in the Haliburton Highlands.”
There are plenty more so don’t miss the free newsletter. It’s chock full of community goings-on. Actually, I’m finding many more things that I’d love to be a part of now than there was during the summer. Maybe there’s more of an outdoor focus in the summer?
The weather this summer past on Maple Lake was often just so yucky that it would have been awesome to have an excuse to get out of the cottage and check out open stage. Hopefully, they still be presenting it come summertime!

The Folk Society hosts an open stage on the third Saturday of every month in Haliburton, starting at 8 p.m. at the Haliburton Highlands Museum. Be part of the audience or perform on stage. We encourage musicians and spoken word artists of all types and levels to play and participate! Come for the zucchini loaf and stay for the music. This is an all ages, smoke-free and alcohol-free event for musicians and music-lovers alike. Performers sign-up upon arrival. Admission is only $3.

I had not heard of it previously so I clicked through and read about this not-for-profit organization. They have philosophy that I believe we each could and should strive for. I would love to participate in one of their workshops or events. I’m certainly going to check their website before I return to Maple Lake.
