Ontario 1967 ‘The Kid’s Table’ (PHOTO) – Happy Christmas 2012! #christmas2012

Hope you were good! (or if not, had fun being naughty!)

At top: Me and Canadian dept. store Santa, 1962.

Not a bad Santa, though  he  looks as if he’s a tad warm in that suit.

Below: A family Canadian Christmas get-together from about 1968. I have cousins and an aunt (my dad’s sis) and uncle and my dad as the adults in this pic. There’s me, my brother, and my cousins after that. No one in the kitchen looks happy. My brother, the second youngest, looks fearful. We may have just gotten yelled at by the host (not kidding!) It is, after all, the kid’s table.

Presents!!! I’m not opening any yet–just passing them out. Oh, so polite.

14- day Weather Outlook Southern Ontario graph

The general weather pattern that Southern Ontario, specifically the Highlands area(s), has been having continues as we work or way through the second half of December. Higher than normal temperatures, both lows and highs are part of the 14-Day picture on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week coming–with both the high and low temperatures for the rest of the two-week period balancing out to about average highs and average lows, overall. There won’t be precipitation of any real significance–just some shower and flurries action here and there. Have a great 2 weeks!

Haliburton Highlands Happenings This Week! (update)

Snowmaking at Sir Sam’s Ski & Bike – Posted by: Dave Webb via the Weather Channel

Found some gorgeous webcam shots today of southern Ontario at about 3 p.m. in the afternoon which I’m going to put in a gallery so you can click them and enjoy them in a larger size. I checked and though there is no snow and ski conditions report out for the Haliburton Highlands I know Sir Sam’s Ski Resort (photo above) is open for those that enjoy fun times in the white stuff.

So let’s talk weather in the Highlands for the next 14 -days!

14-Day Weather Outlook Haliburton Highlands Dec 8- 21

In regard to precipitation, the most that is forecast on any of the next 14- days is “flurries.” Both the low and the high temperatures overall will be seasonably normal. To sum up, the weather for the next two weeks is going to be quite unremarkable and I suppose that is just fine. Enjoy!

Update! ‘Tis the season to be charitable and there are a wealth of ways that you can do so while enjoying great food, entertainment, music–or simply enjoying a beer in your favourite chair (but remember to save the empty bottles!)! Read all about it below and for all the scoop on the many other activities happening in the Haliburton Highlands this week, just scroll up and click the thumbnails!

Haliburton Highlands 14-Day Weather Outlook Dec 1 – Dec 14 2012

Your general weather pattern for the Haliburton Highlands between December 1 and December 14 includes average precipitation. There will be average or above overnight temperatures for twelve of the 14 days, with 8 days of the 14 having above-normal high for the days (see graph). To sum up, expect the lowest temperatures never be lower than normal, nor the daytime highs, with several days–and nights being substantially warmer than one would expect.

Enjoy the gorgeous Southern Ontario hi-res webcam snaps I took today and have a great weekend!
