Today is supposed to be the last of the days we have left here on Maple Lake for the annual opening of the cottage where it won’t be raining. It’s already cold. Weathernetwork.com says ‘West Guilford’ is 41°F right now. We are but a couple miles from there so that’s a pretty good ballpark number.
I was studying the ‘Highlands (Haliburton, Algonquin, etc.) map prior to our trip and discovered that “Maple Lake’ is being designated an ‘area with 200 people or less.” For the first time ever that I’ve seen (and I’ve looked plenty) Maple Lake is being recognized–with a tiny, empty dot–as a place where people–a/k/a ‘year-rounders’ live. That’s pretty neat.

Do not need an iPhone to make my photo look this year's 'sepia'. Nyah. Maple Lake Ontario - May 28 2012
