Have I mentioned that I’m a big fan of late spring, of summer and of early fall in the Haliburton Highlands? Full-on wintertime anywhere tends to be the time when I most wish to be elsewhere (Chicago area – right now- springs to mind). However, the people of the Haliburton Highlands area, who do indeed know what full-on winter feels like, never cease to impress me with the fun-for-everyone activities of all kinds that run year-round. There is nothing ‘dead’ about the ‘dead of winter in the Haliburton Highlands. Want to get just a taste of the great times in store when you spend time in the Haliburton area in February ? Read on!
When I see shots like this one, I want to immediately winterize the cottage and never leave!
I am so impressed with the creativity in the offerings that the folks at the Wild Moose display year-round. I enjoyed the Wild Moose with my spouse last summer and we can’t wait to go back!
When I was growing up, spending my summers on Maple Lake (nearest town: West Guilford) the village of Minden was akin to the younger sister of Haliburton. Nowadays, Haliburton is as bursting with activity as it ever has (and more!) but Minden seems to have really grown up. There are so many family-friendly events and activities going on in the Minden area, if you haven’t taken a closer look in recent years I invite you to begin doing so right now!
After the jump: Haliburton Frost Festival
